Point a display at your flying instead of the sky above it. Set it up here on your phone, then read the code onto the device once.
We only ever read the feed, and you can revoke it whenever you like.
Most crew systems write a leg as 2214 MSP-ATL — no airline code, because inside your own portal there is only one airline. This is what turns those into flights we can follow. Skip it if your roster already spells out codes like DL1420.
We don't have that one yet. Leave an address and we'll write to you when it works — it joins the WingsAbove mailing list, and every mail we send has an unsubscribe link.
This is the line the screen wears, and it is the whole difference between a gadget readout and something the people at home recognise as being about their person. It stays on the device — we don't keep it. Leave it blank and the screen just says "Crew schedule".
The calendar-subscription link from your crew portal — the same one you'd add to your phone's calendar app. We re-read it through the month, so swaps and reroutes follow automatically. We never see your crew login, only the feed you paste.
Airline by airline, with the exact menus, each on its own page: the Crew Mode guides. Pick your airline in Step 1 and the short version appears right there. The general shape:
1 · Straight from your crew portal. Look for Subscribe, Export, iCal, ICS or Add to calendar. Copy the link it offers rather than downloading the file — a downloaded file is a snapshot and stops updating the moment your schedule changes.
2 · Already syncing to your phone? Go via Google Calendar. This is the path that works when your crew app will push a calendar but won't hand you a URL. In Google Calendar on a computer: Settings → pick the calendar your schedule lands in → Integrate calendar → copy the Secret address in iCal format.
3 · Neither? Send us the name of your crew system and we'll add it — hello@wings-above.com.
4 · Your portal will only push, never hand you a link? That happens when an airline's Google Workspace has sharing switched off — the secret address simply isn't offered. There is nothing to paste in that case; the portal path above is the only way through.
That secret address is a live link to your schedule. Treat it like a password: anyone holding it can read where you're flying. You can revoke it in Google Calendar at any time, and remove it from the display in Menu → Crew.
The Google Calendar route needs a computer. The secret address isn't shown in the mobile app or the mobile site. Either use your crew portal's own Subscribe link, which works fine here, or pick this up on a laptop.
Use this if your crew site only lets you download your schedule instead of giving you a link. A downloaded file is a snapshot — it will not follow swaps or reroutes, so you would need to upload a fresh one when your schedule changes. A link is better if you can get one.
A union calendar is connected from this phone.
Your union's Calendar Sync gives you a server link, a username and a password instead of a feed link — in the APA app it is the iCloud tab of Calendar Sync. Paste all three here and we read the calendar the same way your phone would.
This is the one place we keep a login. Use the calendar password from that screen, never your airline or union sign-in. It is stored sealed, used only to read this calendar, and erased when you press Disconnect on this page. Removing the schedule from the display stops the reading; come back here to erase the login as well.
Registrations (N401FX) or 24-bit hex (A1B2C3). The name is optional and only for you — the display shows it instead of the tail, so "Dad's plane" beats "N402FX" across a kitchen. Aircraft over open ocean have no receivers beneath them and will show no signal until they are back in coverage — that's normal, not a fault.
That link stays a live view of your schedule. If you ever want it to stop, revoke it where you got it — in Google Calendar, Settings → your calendar → Integrate calendar → Reset — or remove it from the display in Menu → Crew. We only ever read it.
We will read your union calendar about every half hour with the login you gave us, which is stored sealed and used for nothing else. To stop: Disconnect on this page erases the login; Menu → Crew on the display removes the schedule from the screen.
This file is a snapshot: the display will follow exactly these flights and nothing newer. Upload a fresh one when your schedule changes — the display reminds you a few days before it runs out. The flights live on the display itself; we keep nothing. Remove them any time in Menu → Crew.
